Junior Estimator


District Mechanical is looking for a highly motivated, self-starting individual who is highly organized and has a great deal of experience with the Microsoft suite of programs. We are looking to bring on a person to coordinate our estimating operations that will manage our bid invitations (both incoming & outgoing), communicate with the team on upcoming tenders, change order events, communicate with general contractors and sub-contractors, and organize tender documentation and files. Once the individual has a good grasp on their daily functions the goal is to slowly introduce them to and train them in completing piping and sheet metal takeoffs, moving them into a junior estimating role as we continue to grow.

Skills required:


  • >Solid background in scheduling and organizing team schedules using Microsoft outlook
  • >Organization skills - ability to keep track of and store project invitations and files
  • >Able to work alone and in a team environment
  • >Microsoft excel – must understand how to do complex equations in excel, knowledge of macros are a bonus.
  • >Ability to create and manipulate documents using a pdf editor i.e. Foxit
  • >Good written and oral communication skills
  • >Trade knowledge of any type is an asset but not a requirement
  • >Must have personal transportation, and be physically able to traverse construction sites
  • >Communicate with suppliers, subcontractors, and clients while building rapport and working relationships
  • >Perform detailed quantity takeoff’s of duct systems
  • >Perform Estimate closeouts
  • >Perform estimating turnover meetings with project management team
  • >Develop bidding strategies with estimating team
  • >Fill out Rev 0 budget’s for projects
  • >Perform takeoff’s for change order pricing
